There are three airports that service the Asilomar Center. Visitors are encouraged to check the costs to fly into each as they service different airlines.
The likely option for many international visitors will be the San Francisco International Airport (SFO) about 180 km from the conference center. This is the largest airport, has the most flights, and services most international airlines.
Alternatively, the Mineta San Jose International Airport (SJC) is about 130 km from the conference center. This is a smaller airport but does have several international carriers. This might be the appropriate choice for either flights of international or national origins.
The third airport is the Monterey Regional Airport (MRY). This is a small airport about 13 km from the conference center. There are limited flights to MRY but is the closest airport if your airline flies there.
There are two good choices for transport from the SFO and SJC airports to the Asilomar Center. The first is the Monterey Airbus Shuttle. This shared ride minibus leaving about every 90 minutes.
Book your shuttle reservation at Montereyairbus.com. Enter the airport you are arriving to, the date, time and dropoff location. The Dropoff location “Asilomar Conference Grounds Pacific Grove is under the Hotel link on their site. The round trip cost for the Monterey Airbus is $120 from the San Francisco Airport and $100 from the San Jose Airport.
The second option for those that want to tour the area either before or after the conference is to rent a car at the airport. This might be the more cost effective approach if you are coming to the conference with multiple colleagues.
